Saw this for the first time yesterday. Great film, which was cool cos i had a great night of films - saw Wallace and Gromit at the cinema, which was amazing, and then saw this, then saw the first half of Spinal Tap which i haven't seen for ages! So that was fun, lol.

But the stuff Stillwater plays in that film is really good - the drummer and guitarist and shit good. They sound wicked. Just a shame their fictitious - i'd definitely buy their albums if they had some! Who was the drummer/other musicians who did all the tracks for that film? It looks pretty much like their doing it live on camera, but I can't imagine it actually is. The dubbing guys on the set must have been rediculously talented to make it look as real as it does, IMO. I wonder if Vinnie did the sessions for it - it almost has that kinda sound.

    Wicked film, besides.

Yeah wicked music film for sure and it was kind of autobiographicaly based on the director, Cameron Crowe - his wife is Nancy from Heart... I think she does a lot of music for his films.

Anyways about Stillwater - they were a "real band" for the sake of the movie's music... I don't remember the lineup but I somehow have a CD of theirs with songs from the movie that weren't on the soundtrack. I think I got it with the limited edition DVD or something - yeah some pretty cool rock tunes. Great job by the actors too! Do a search on Google for "almost famous stillwater musicians" or something and you might get lucky!

P.S. Congrats on the Top 40 UK drummers!!!!!!!

Yea Stillwater was a compostite of a number of bands from the early 70s -- mostly the Allman Brothers as I understand it.
